News agency ANI reported that 6 people died after a house collapsed in the Doti district of Nepal at 1.57 am on Wednesday morning. Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and NCR region due to which people woke up from their sleep around 2 pm. Nepal's National Center for Seismology confirmed that Nepal had experienced three aftershocks in the past 24 hours - two earthquakes and one aftershock.
On Wednesday, at around 2.12 am, a third force of 6.6 magnitude struck, in which three people were killed when a house collapsed. Deaths have been reported from Gairgaon," Ram Prasad Upadhyay, president of Poorvi Chowki Gram Parishad-03, Doti district told ANI.
The first earthquake of 4.9 magnitude occurred in Nepal at around 8.52 pm. Another 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal at around 1.57 am, with tremors felt in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram and even Lucknow. The epicenter of the second earthquake was 90 km east-southeast of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand.
An official of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority told HT that there has been no call to the emergency operations center regarding any damage related to the quake.
