Lakhs of outsourced employees of Odisha are going to protest in capital Bhubaneswar on 26 November 2022 with aim to regularization of job. Two months ago, Hon'ble Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik announced that the practice of contract engagement has been completely eradicated from the state.
The chief minister said that when he took charge of the state, the financial condition of the state was not good, so to cut costs, contractual employment was arranged temporarily at the government level. Now that the economy is improving, so these contractual appointments have been eliminated.
The outsourced employees said that, the government did not keep its word. It was said that at that time the economy of the government was not good so since 2004 contract employees were hired and the same government work was done at lower wages. But those employees who have been working as contractual employees for more than 20 years were not taken into account at the time of the announcement of lifting the contractual appointment.
