AICHI-NAGOYA, JAPAN | SEPTEMBER 30, 2026: India enjoyed a highly successful day at the 2026 Asian Games, with the country's athletes adding several medals on Wednesday as competition entered its final phase in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The 20th Asian Games are being held from September 19 to October 4, with athletes from across Asia competing in dozens of sports and disciplines.
India Shines in Compound Archery
India produced a memorable performance in compound archery on Day 12.
The Indian women's compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi defeated China 238-234 in the final to win gold. Their score equalled the world record for the event.
India then secured another gold in the mixed compound team event, where Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav defeated South Korea in a shoot-off after the final was tied at 157-157.
The mixed-team victory also secured India a qualification place for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games in the relevant archery quota pathway.
India's Medal Tally
According to the latest figures reported on September 30, India has reached 59 medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games:

India is currently listed seventh in the overall medal standings in the latest published tally. China leads the table, followed by Japan and South Korea.

Indian athletes have also produced notable performances in athletics. India's women's 4x400m relay team won gold, while the men's 4x400m relay team secured bronze.
