Why Flooded Roads Can Be Dangerous
Even shallow-looking floodwater can conceal damaged roads, deep channels, open drains and strong currents. Moving water can quickly destabilise a vehicle and carry it away.
During heavy rainfall, motorists should avoid flooded roads and never attempt to drive through rapidly flowing water. Following local weather and disaster-management warnings can help reduce the risk of such incidents.
