Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill Power India to Eight-Wicket Win Over West Indies
Centuries from Kohli and Gill help India chase 295 with 8.2 overs to spare; Kohli also reaches the landmark of 15,000 ODI runs.
India produced a commanding batting performance to defeat the West Indies by eight wickets in the first ODI, taking a 1–0 lead in the series. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill both scored centuries as India successfully chased the West Indies' total of 295/7.
Kohli remained unbeaten on 139 from 88 balls, producing a fluent innings that included six fours and six sixes. The century was another milestone in his international career, while he also became only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to reach 15,000 ODI runs.
Captain Shubman Gill also played a major role in the successful chase, scoring 110 from 108 deliveries. Kohli and Gill added 151 runs together, putting India firmly in control of the match.
The West Indies posted 295/7 in their allotted 50 overs, but India's top order responded strongly. India reached 300/2 in 41.4 overs, completing the chase with 50 balls remaining.

Kohli reaches another major milestone
Kohli's unbeaten 139 was his 55th ODI century and also took him beyond the 15,000-run mark in ODI cricket. His performance came during a successful run chase and underlined his continued importance to India's ODI batting line-up.
Gill continues his strong partnership with Kohli
Gill's century provided the perfect support at the other end. The 151-run partnership between Gill and Kohli effectively ended West Indies' hopes of defending their total and gave India a comfortable finish.
With India now leading the three-match series 1–0, attention turns to the remaining ODIs and the next opportunity for both teams to strengthen their preparations ahead of future international assignments.
