Congress leader Krishna Kumar Pandey died on Tuesday while participating in the party's public relations program Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is currently passing through Maharashtra. Pandey was the general secretary of the Congress's Seva Dal, the grassroots organization of the oldest party. The Congress said in a statement that Pandey collapsed during the march and was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said Pandey along with himself and party stalwart Digvijay Singh had walked back with the tricolor in hand when the Seva Dal leader fell.
He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, "where sadly he was declared brought dead," Ramesh said in a tweet.
The Rajya Sabha member said, “He was a staunch Congressman and used to clash with the RSS in Nagpur. This is the happiest moment for all the passengers."
