| Kenya Droughts |
Thousands of wildebeest, zebra, elephant, gravies' zebra and buffalo are died due to the drought. Kenya's worst drought in 40 years has caused human suffering and severely affected its wildlife, what with wild animals and zebra populations.
While carnivores are generally less affected by drought, they eventually suffer from reduced prey populations long after the drought ends, according to a report released. The Amboseli, Tsavo and Laikipia-Samburu regions, home to 65% of Kenya's elephant population, are among the hardest hit by the drought.
Tourism is Kenya's third largest foreign exchange earner after remittances and agricultural exports, with many visitors attracted by the country's game parks. Income from visitors is estimated to be 172.9 billion shillings ($1.42 billion) this year, up from 146.5 billion shillings in 2021.
