Days after sacking senior leadership from Twitter, Elon Musk has fired nearly 50% of Twitter employees. According to several reports, employees from different teams and countries have been asked to leave. In India too, most of the Twitter staff have been laid off.
Musk explained in a tweet his reasoning behind sacking about 50% of the workforce. The new owner of Twitter said the company had no choice because it was bleeding. "With respect to Twitter's reduction in force, unfortunately there is no alternative when the company is losing over $4M/day," he said in a tweet.
He also explained that those who were let go were offered a severance package. He said in the same tweet, "All those exiting were offered 3 months severance, which is 50% more than what is legally required."
