A key part of the plan is the creation of tourism land banks, which will help the government identify and make land available for tourism-related projects such as hotels, resorts, visitor facilities and other infrastructure. The move is expected to encourage private investment and support faster development of tourism destinations.
Tourist safety is another major priority. The government plans to introduce tourist police at 29 important destinations and train around 1,000 lifeguards to improve safety, particularly at beaches and other high-footfall locations.
The package is expected to benefit Odisha’s famous destinations, including Puri, Konark, Chilika, Bhubaneswar and coastal tourism areas, while also promoting lesser-known locations.
Officials believe the investment could generate employment, support local businesses, improve tourism services and increase Odisha’s share of the national tourism market. The broader objective is to make tourism an important driver of the state’s economy while ensuring that development remains safe, organised and sustainable.
